Vintage How to Spot the Fakes

How can you tell if you're buying the real deal? Brands that make quality products add security features during manufacture. These security features add expense to making the jeans or the purse or whatever. In the fashion collector world it is often called "the Sex" or just "Sex". It's short for security but it's also because sometimes these features are very well sexy ☺ Be informed and don't get ripped off. And if you buy something and you find out it's not real that's ok if you only paid $10 or $20, because almost anything can be made offshore for less than $20. Sometimes the security costs more than making the item, so that's why it gets left off. And the really good fakes include the security and can even fool the experts. Read my story about the Cartier watch if you want to get an idea of how good the fakes can get Story Time The Cartier Watch It's a fun little story pulled from my history in shopping but there's a lesson there at the end. Ok that's it. Be informed ♥ Kelly @cowboycentral on Poshmark.ca ☺

True Religion Jeans

True Religion Jeans were only ever made in the USA although their kids line was made in Mexico. The sizing tag should say MADE IN USA, MADE IN USA FROM IMPORTED FABRIC and a few variations on this. BUT IF YOU ARE BUYING ADULT JEANS IT MUST SAY MADE IN USA. That knocks out a bunch of the fakes. Next flip size tag up and see if there is a tag underneath. There should be a red horseshoe. That's sexy ♥ If that red horseshoe is not there walk to the next table. Sometimes that tag is cut out but you don't see that too often, not sure why they would cut that out but you do see it. It may be that the tag had something else on it. Probably should walk to the next table because the value of the jeans is cut in half with one snip ☺  Flip that tag! And if says MADE IN CHINA or even MADE IN ITALY up front move along. Good fakes come out of ITALY for some obvious reasons but that's another story ☺ Here is a really nice guide to spotting authentic True Religion jeans from SnapGuide ♥
