Story Time ☺ The Cartier Watch

i used to be a teacher well still am part time so that's why its story time like in the afternoon when the kids get cranky

Ahem this is a story about a watch named Cartier and Cartier's adventures so sit down in a circle over her kids because it's time for the story.

Now when I was a little younger but I was a teacher then too I took a contract in Dubai and at that time the CDN dollar was worth nothing and we were paid USD so it was a good deal. And no taxes. And if you want to know about Dubai I'm happy to talk about it all day long. Anyway ♥

A friend and I used to shop and go to the souqs and one day we walk past this watch dealer ☺ So this shop has Rolex, Tag, Diesel was big then and my friend asked about a Rolex and the price was 50 AED, so divide by 3, 17 CDN (yes math is in the afternoon). You kind of blink twice when you hear that cause that Rolex looked pretty good, not like at the souq ☺ So we didn't buy anything because we'd never support that kind of activity well maybe 1 or 2 but only for educational purposes ☺

(Johnny let go of Sissy's hair chrissake) So my friend and I got to be regulars at that little shop and it turns out that the nice ones aren't even on display, they're under the counter and when my friend and I walked in he'd kick all the looky lu's out and we'd have a private viewing. He'd haul up 3 velvet trays and if those were real there would have been millions on the counter, and these replicas were 200-300 AED so 70-100 CDN. You know EXPENSIVE ☺

And that guy knew his watches. He could show you all the little details that you look for and how the Rolex hand has to sweep a certain way and he never got tired of showing off those watches. And we would pick up something now and then and teachers at our school were asking us about these fancy watches and we'd tell them and they'd ask us to take them there because it was sometimes hard to find places in Dubai ♥

(Jeez that kid is bouncing up and down I think he needs to go) So when I got back to CA one of my Cartier's started to act up, and I thought jeez if I take this into a shop they're going to put me in bracelets, and silver not gold, but then I thought I'll just act dumb and say I didn't know. So I drop off the watch and it'll be ready in a week or so ☺

When I go back to pick it up the girl at the counter says there's a note here on your watch that the jeweler wants to speak with you and I'm thinking her we go and the jeweler comes out from the back and puts on his cheaters and picks up the watch and reads the note and looks at the watch again and says  (dramatic pause)

And the jeweler says in a very serious voice Rarely do I work on such a fine timepiece as this Cartier. You own something very special and I trust you have it insured ☺ sure with my don't lose a quarter in the couch policy ☺ he grabs a case and carefully puts it in so as not to damage the innards and then gets me the nice bag and I thank him kindly ♥ I'm looking both ways when I leave the store because I'm pretty sure he's setting me up for the hoosegow ☺

And that watch has been perfect ever since ♥ he probably replaced the spring with a decent one and cleaned out the sand and put it back together properly ☺ and the moral of the is story is (Tammy you can put your hand down) GOOD FAKES can FOOL even the EXPERTS ♥

And that's THE END ♥ And if you don't think it's true that's ok but I don't think you can make this sh*t up (and no Arnold we're not supposed to use bad language and that's why there's a * ) Kelly @cowboycentral on Poshmark.ca and join in on the jean collector fun FB group Jean Collectors
